'Shining India's' economic buoyancy has shown a significant growth
of
16.5% in tourist arrivals in year 2003 with a record growth in foreign
exchange earnings of 20%. Industry sources reveal that India's annual
real growth of the
travel & tourism sector is poised to increase by 8.8 % between
2004-2014, higher than China ,Laos, Vietnam and Fiji. It is estimated
that the 8.8% growth will create a yawning gap in demand & supply,
thus creating an enormous need for professionals in the travel and
tourism industry. |

Globally tourism will account for 11,404,000 jobs of total employment
which in turn will create both directly and indirectly
in 2004, 24,456,600 jobs in India. Further, by 2014 there would be
27,790,000 tourism jobs in India. With this rapid increase in travel & tourism
jobs India will be the second largest travel & tourism employer
in South Asia.
